One solution might be to just plug off the stock vent and instead drill a
small hole through the inner fuel cap.  I did that a long time ago, when I
discovered the fuel would spill out the stock vent during a left turn with
the tank nearly full.  

Of course then you have to be a bit more careful not to overfill the tank,
but it's not been a problem for me.
