Hi all; Tim again here, unfortunately.

Following Larry's enquiry, you may remember that I promised to have a word
with a techno-geek bloke in our local Triumph club, about setting up our
own listers website. His response is a bit long and, to be honest, I don't
understand half of it because it doesn't involve big bits of metal going up
and down/round and round. However, here it is for what it's worth:

Hi Tim,

If one of the members is able to host the site on a PC at their home
(always on, always on the internet, etc) then the hosting costs go to
zero and the only charges would be for the domain name - those are cheap
- depending on the type of domain (.ca, .com, .net, etc).

Performance in this scenario can be variable as most people have a much
larger "pipe" for downloading information to their home than to upload
from their home, so it would mean that people accessing the site might
find it slow. Still it works. I've hosted sites for years - currently
the British Car Day site is still hosted on a machine in my home - but
I'll be moving it to an externally hosted one this year.

If you want to look at external hosting, there are some very inexpensive
packages out there that do a decent job and provide near 100% available
connections, and you can probably find things as low as $10-15 month
that would do the trick for you guys.

Glad to help out with site design if you want it, but leave that with
you to think about for another day.

Regards,

Don
