[TR] wire wheel advice needed

This thread has provoked some thoughts as I plan on changing my tr4 from steel
rims to 60-spoke wires. The triumph came with steel so I am hesitant to cut
the studs as I would like to have the capability to revert back if possible.

Question 1:
I have seen 6MM spacers being used to avoid cutting the studs. Seems like a
reasonable alternative. I spoke to the RTF and they did not recommend that
approach but could not give a plausible reason as to why they should not be
used.

Question 2:
I am looking at going with 165/80r15 any issues seen there ?
I'm leaning toward the Kumho Power Star 758

Question 3:
It appears a radial tube is required due to the wires.
I haven't done much research yet but anybody have a preferred vendor or what
size I should be ordering.

Thank you

Peter

Lots of great comment so I'll add my two cents as well...

I bought a set of used 60-spoke wires for my TR3 and took them to be
powder-coated to match the interior. The red spoke wheels on a black car
with red interior really pops and I get a lot of good compliments from
onlookers, I am running the stock size 165/15 tires (picture available upon
request). Downside is I should have bought new wheels as I am at about 1/2
the cost of new with the traditional problems of older wire wheels, an
annoying shimmy in a 5MPH window around 55MPH. I is not so bad that I can't
live with it for a while as other resto issue currently have priority.
While I am trying to keep my project very original, I probably won't put the
48-spoke gray wires that came with the car back on any time soon.

"I'm considering changing my 57 TR3 from 4" disc wheels to 60 spoke 4.5"

painted wire wheels. I'd like to hear others' experiences before I drop
that much money on wheels"

John, if you will be purchasing from Hendrix they should need little
maintenance other than spine lubrication as Randall describes. Given that
you were thinking 4.5" wires I assume you like the classic look and light
feel of the original size vs. upsizing for performance reasons. If that's
the case you should spring for the "chrome" wires if able. I have painted
72 spoke wheels on my TR4A. The painted wheels look correct, but whenever I
am at a show or club event and see all those shiny wheels, I wish that my
car had the polished spokes. But this will son pass as I am planning a
change over to Minilite style rims this year :-) If I had to choose again
between the original steel rims and painted wires, I would stick with the
steel rimes
