[TR] vote criterion

Bob,
The "Name On the Card" thing is a good idea for bringing people together.
At events where people from wide areas accumulate, it is likely that people
who have never seen your car but recognize your name want to meet you to put
a face with your name.

Correctness is the last thing I look for at a "participant's show". As far
as I'm concerned, that's reserved for the concours judged events. I too will
not vote for a car with the hood/bonnet closed. I tend to shy away from
trailer queens as our cars were meant to be driven and I don't see the point
of owning one to just admire it sitting in the garage.....unless it's a car
of historical significance......which are few and far between.
I look for cars that the owner has taken great pride in doing quality work
on, be it maintaining originality or putting in some real cool
modifications. I had to laugh at one show where a guy with his voting pad
was checking the panel alignment on my car! I'm sure I didn't get his
vote......especially if he looked in my engine bay ;-)
I don't understand the "name on the placard" comment because whether my name
is there or not, all my Triumph friends know my car just like I'm sure your
friends know your car. And friend or not I expect them to vote for whatever
car they like best. That's the point of the show.
