All I'd like to add is:  Whew do the battery materials come from, and 
what does it take to build them?

I've hard a rumor that Prius batteries have a huge carbon footprint 
since the materials go around the word at least once in the process 
of being transformed from raw ore into a finished cell.  You could 
say the same about many regular car parts too, I suspect.  But if 
you're considering the whole cycle, you need to consider the whole cycle.
