[TR] TR-3 Wiper Motor

We are trying to hook up the wiper motor on my "62 TR-3. The diagram  in the 
Workshop manual shows a two wire hookup but the wiring loom has three  wires 
and the motor has three terminals. With all three wires hooked up the  motor 
runs continuously with the switch on or off. It also smelled hot. 
 
 Any suggestions on how we can make it work right and park  properly?
