[TR] TR6 - installing carpet snaps - is there a trick to this?

I have found that I can usually just put the carpet in the desired position
then press very hard against the male snap... this will leave an impression
on the underside of the carpet that I use to locate the snap to be
installed. If the impression is too faint a bit of chalk or such on the
male snap may leave a better mark.
