Yes and yes. A typical cause would be low oil in the gearbox so that
it loses hydraulic pressure and can't stay engaged fully. The fact
that this happened when you were going uphill may be a clue.
On the other hand it could be something else such as severely worn
clutch surfaces in the OD. I'd top off the tranny oil first, see if
it happens again.
Could it actually have been the clutch slipping? Or did you turn off
the OD and the slipping stopped?
