This is almost certainly due to wear in the copper-faced
spherical thrust washers that adjust the clearance of the
pinion gears. They wear over time, often in part due to
the use of the "wrong" oil (GL5 instead of the lower-sulphur
GL4).
They are also hard to come by in the wide variety of thicknesses
that used to be provided by the factory.
Not worth taking the diff apart unless it's *really* bad. Just
learn to make softer launches. The "final solution" to this
problem is to install a limited-slip unit :-)
