Message-ID: The place I spent many many hours working on Triumphs and essentially built the Spit race car is going to be foreclosed on for back taxes soon. The owner, a close friend died two weeks ago. His family asked those of us who spent time there to see what was worth saving, if anything. We went through it today. It's pretty sad. The roof has huge holes in it, getting ready to collapse in spots. Everything is either rusting in the dripping water or covered in dust so thick you can't tell what it was. My TR250 engine is buried behind a vintage VW transporter that we will need to figure out how to move before I can get it out (it is on it's engine stand and in great shape though). We pulled out a few VW parts so old that they are labeled 'Auto Union', some 39hp Beetle parts, and a few other interesting tidbits to see if the collection is worth much. I really need to find the VW equivalent of Ted S. Perhaps the saddest for me is abandoning the GT6+ in the basement. Mark will recognize it. Just not worth the effort to get it the heck out of there. It was a good donor for the Spit back in the day however. Maybe I should at least try to save the hood...And maybe the doors...And...herein lies madness. So it goes. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... I seem to somewhat remember visiting that building when I flew to your place to assist in driving the old Scout down to the Savannah VTR convention. I'm not as young as I used to be [Gee, imagine that!] and sometimes I think about what Karen would have to go through if I died before her. I've got NOS Lucas stuff that *I* don't recognize, I'm sure she wouldn't either. mjb. It's always sad when this sort of thing happens - I have seen it a bunch in the ham radio world recently. I have a contact that might be able to hook you up in the VW world. I'll send a separate message. The CRV has only 1,000 lbs. of towing capacity - Spitfires are light, but not THAT light! Anyway, after I get some more photos of various areas of the truck I plan to run another advert or two. How does this strike you? mjb. The vehicle being offered here to the discerning buyer is a rare treasure, a 1985 Nissan King Cab model 720 pickup truck. This beauty has accumulated 224,774 miles during its pampered life, hence the asking price, a mere dollar a mile. Having been built a quarter of a century ago, this fine specimen uses a fuel delivery system that was unsurpassed for decades, a carburetor. You'll be hard pressed to find such a device on current cars of lesser pedigree. This one, however, is being tempermental and not properly regulating the air to fuel ratio. It runs really rich, pegging the meters on emissions machines without a moment's hesitation. A kit to remedy this situation is included, any decent mechanic should be able to effect repair with minimal knuckle damage. My avocation is old British sports cars, specifically the Triumph marque. With their Lucas electricals they are often the butt of many jokes. If I only had a dollar for every time I've heard about Lucas refridgerators ... This Nissan, in the two short years I've owned it, has picked up some of the Triumph habits. The taillights do not always work. The column switch does as it should, the headlights [ both high and low beams ] work fine. But there seems to be a short, or bad ground or some such in one of the lamp assemblies affixed to the corners of this truck. Given that this noble steed of such character exhibits such flaws, I may be willing to negotiate on the price a bit. I realize that not everyone has the means these days to drop nearly a quarter million dollars on a vehicle such as this exquisite example. If you feel that becoming the next proud owner of this exclusive offering suits your fancy, let's talk. I didn't get to post me new ad for the little truck, someone bought it yesterday. I do, however, need to get the old Rolling Red Dumpster, my 1 ton cargo van running and sold soon, so maybe I'll start working on some innovative, eye catching blurb for that vehicle. mjb.
