I put the disc brake conversion on my Alpine. The caliper is positioned such that if the rear compresses enough, the lip of the frame above the rear end will hit the parking brake spring part of the caliper before any stop is hit. I don’t know that I have ever hit such a bump that has caused anywhere near that kind of compression. But it still makes me nervous. I’ve been debating adding a bigger stop inside the shock itself (the are Konis, which I think do have such stops), or rotating the caliper to a different position. The problem with the different position is that the parking brake rod and cable will no longer work.<div><br></div><div>Just a thought to add to the collective knowledge.<br><div><br></div><div><br id="m_-466556242317216925lineBreakAtBeginningOfMessage"><div><br><blockquote type="cite"><div>On Aug 5, 2026, at 7:33 PM, Gary Winblad <<a href="mailto:winbladgary@gmail.com" target="_blank">winbladgary@gmail.com</a>> wrote:</div><br><div><div dir="ltr" style="font-family:Helvetica;font-size:12px;font-style:normal;font-variant-caps:normal;font-weight:400;letter-spacing:normal;text-align:start;text-indent:0px;text-transform:none;white-space:normal;word-spacing:0px;text-decoration:none"><div>Terry,</div><div>I bet Tom Hall could give you those answers.</div><div>My stock Tiger is lowered with ground down rubber spring pads and stock sagged springs, don't think it ever bottoms. To that end, can anyone share the intended clearance between the top of the stock rubber snubbers and their corresponding stop-pads on the cross-member for a (mostly) stock Tiger with known good springs?
