<div dir="ltr">What I have on my car are the 15" reproductions from Sunbeam Specialties. I also have an original set of the 13" wheels that the original owner had on the car. When I was restoring the car I found that one of the wheels had a bigger hub opening than the other 3. The original owner had been rear-ended on the driver's side and I figured out that the passenger side rear wheel must have been pushed into a curb or something and he got a replacement wheel that was a little different. Another hint was that the hub on that side was bent a little bit and I had to get a new one made up by Doug Jennings. <div><br></div><div>Sorry for the rambling.</div><div><br></div><div>Joe</div></div><br><div class="gmail_quote gmail_quote_container"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Mon, Sep 22, 2025 at 12:52 PM Jay <<a href="mailto:jay.laifman@gmail.com">jay.laifman@gmail.com</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex"><div>One other thing to note about original LAT 70s, they did not have a bead lip around the edge for the tires to hook into. He finally came over and asked me if they were "Dan Gurney" wheels. He pulled out his phone and showed me a picture of his Porsche 914 that had a set of wheels that looked just like the LAT70s. I thought that the only other car that had our HandS made wheels was the Corvair. When I got home I pulled out my book of Norman and read up on the history of these wheels and it does say that Dan Gurney and some other companies made their own versions of this wheel later in the '60s and '70s. From Googling around it looks like a lot of 914 guys are using this style of wheel.<div><br></div><div>I learn something new every day.</div><div><br></div><div>Have Fun,</div><div>Joe Brown</div></div>
