<p>Check the float level and check for any debris in the float bowl</p>

<p>Remove the air filter and idle engine to see if it is an air flow problem.</p>

<p><span style="font-size:12pt">Ok, so I got the vacuum advance sorted and reset the timing, etc.  But now there's another issue.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:12pt">The car starts and warms up normally, choke opening, temperature gauge coming up to the thermostat temp, etc. But then it starts surging at idle.  Accelerating, driving both seem fine.  But when it goes back to idle, waiting at a stoplight or something, it starts having these little dips, which soon become larger dips, to the point where it stops.  It restarts right away, then does it again.  At a stoplight I have to left foot brake so that I can keep my foot on the throttle to keep it alive.   </span></p>
