wanted to hide the overflow tank, so we (Bob Cuneo) took an
old fire extinguisher, cut/sectioned/welded it so it would
fit (on the Griffith) close to the tubular frame and not be

is difficult to see in the photo labeled “surge tank
installed” how well it hides, but it is really hard to spot.

currently using my old original washer bottle mounted in the
bracket that originally held the remote oil filter. I would
like to come up with a different solution that I can mount
to the inner fender in front of the expansion tank. I'm
concerned that the plastic washer bottle in its current
location up against the engine might suffer from the heat.
Moss Motors has an overflow bottle for a Triumph that
wouldn't look out of place in the Tiger, <a

But the bracket is kind of pricey. I might try to make my

They were about 10 years apart. Both
failed soon after installation. The 10
year gap was because I had forgotten that

update on my quest to find a
radiator cap. I wound up ordering
a Scott Drake Mustang cap from CJ
Pony Parts and it fits really
well. And since my temp gauge was
always pegged out really high I
installed a mechanical temp gauge
from Summit on my Edelbrock
intake. After idling for about 20
minutes the temp never got over
190. Now I need to take it out
for a long drive and see how it

took a look at the Tiger
Parts List Supplement
(pub number 6601131) and
I'm guessing this only
covers the Tigers up to
B382001521 because it
only shows the 1224725
header tank and Ron has
Parts List 6601334 which
show two more
tanks. Parts List
6601131 says the 9 lb.
cap is for "later" cars
and the 13 lb. cap is
for "earlier" cars.
This seems to contradict
what is in TBON. Is it
possible that some of
the earliest cars had 13
lb. caps and then they
went to 9 lb. caps until
they changes the header

radiator cap I

using. I've
tried a cap
that was
listed as
being for a
Tiger on
Autozone's
website but I
think the
pressure
spring part
under the cap
is too short.
I almost
immediately
start getting
water out of
the overflow
tube as the
engine warms
up. I
measured the
depth of the
expansion tank
opening from
the top edge
to the flange
where the
spring part of
the cap would
sit and got
.777". I
measured the
cap from the
big rubber
seal just
under the cap
to the small
rubber seal at
the end of the
spring and got
something like
.75". So it
looks like I
need a cap
with a longer
spring stem. </span><o:p></o:p></p>
