When has a 29 cent piece of plastic generated this much mail?😜 I'll admit also, the original posting had me thinking of engine valves and of some rare and exotic tool used by old English mechanics.</span></div>

<div>Since I seem to be the point of many comments (not just this one), YES, I have heard of and know what a Schrader valve is. HOWEVER, neither in the original post nor in the Ebay item (I found) that was worded IDENTICALLY as the post was the word TIRE (or tube) ever used. So, there was NO inclination that the tool was used in conjunction with a tire. And from the Ebay ad there was nothing to compare the items size. So, there was no knowing how large or small it was. I do not have a tool kit to compare, and TBON was already stated as not providing what the original poster was looking for.</div>
<div><br></div>
<div>Thus was my thinking going to known “valves” in a Tiger. And the only other valves I though of were; the engine valves, heater control valve and possible a radio vacuum tube using a British term “valve” (Reference Tim Hunkin ”Secret Life of Machines”) and the tool was used for some type of electronic adjustment. Also, a third of my working life I was a TV Studio technician and we often used very similar looking tools to adjust cameras, hence the mental connection for radio adjustment.</div>
<div><br></div>
<div>BTW, these were merely suggestions (“could”), I admitted to the term (sans the word tire) was “cofounding” because I could not think of ANY reason (with the exception of a radio adjustment) a plastic tool would be used for those other stated purposes. In essence I was ruling out most of those things I mentioned.</div>
<div><br></div>
<div>So, yea, I get it. The simplicity of the tool once revealed makes even me grin at myself a little bit. But, please, have a little mercy. Had the word TIRE or, yes, even Schrader valve been used I would not have overthought my reply. Which by the way was (I believe) the first one some 17 hours after the initial question was posed – and others could have had amply opportunity – but didn’t.</div>

<div>You must be talking about this: <a title="https://www.ebay.com/itm/Sunbeam-Tiger-Alpine-Plastic-Valve-Stem-Extractor-for-tool-kit/332984724770?hash=item4d876fad22:g:r9wAAOSwFSxZ~Mb5:rk:1:pf:0" href="https://www.ebay.com/itm/Sunbeam-Tiger-Alpine-Plastic-Valve-Stem-Extractor-for-tool-kit/332984724770?hash=item4d876fad22:g:r9wAAOSwFSxZ~Mb5:rk:1:pf:0" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" shape="rect">https://www.ebay.com/itm/Sunbeam-Tiger-Alpine-Plastic-Valve-Stem-Extractor-for-tool-kit/332984724770?hash=item4d876fad22:g:r9wAAOSwFSxZ~Mb5:rk:1:pf:0</a> as an item of the exact name is on Ebay now.</div>
<div><br></div>
<div>The term itself seems confounding. I can only think of two types of valves in a Tiger. The 16 valves in the engine and the heater control valve. Given the engine valve stem and head are one you would not be “extracting” one from the other and surely not with plastic. I’ve never had the heater valve apart but from its appearance this device seems to have little or no purpose. Could it be that the word “valve” has an expanded British meaning? I know they often call vacuum tubes “valves.” Frankly it looks like a shaft for a radio knob..., or a tool for adjusting old style potentiometers , capacitors etc..</div>

<p>I'm dumbfounded. Have none of you ever heard of a Schrader valve? It's what holds the air in your tires!</p>
