There should be a square corner protruding 1/4 inch from under the head that can be seen or felt easily. (Some alum heads cover it but it can be seen or felt from the block side)

If you see the corner the gasket is correct. The rear end of the gasket does NOT have a corner. Compare new gaskets at the parts store, turn one backwards and look. I believe that the FelPro gaskets DO have the corner.

Caution, I have seen some hp gaskets that did not have the square corner.

Go buy a NEW radiator cap and make the parts store get out their pressure tester and make sure the new cap holds pressure. Most caps test 2-4 pounds less than their rating. I just bought a brand name one and we had to test 4 to get one to test more than 12 on a 16 rating.... finally
got a 15 1/2.

Photo link

http://sbftech.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=4f2b198aad3d85f8fb74d7b6eeeccd78&action=dlattach;topic=464.0;attach=463;image

-----------------------------

________________________________
