Got it. I suppose I have a pet peeve against some folks in the 912 and 914 worlds who like to put BMW calipers on their cars. First, the brakes on my 912 are unquestionably better than on my Sunbeams. I've pushed the 912 to the limits in autox and never remotely had a braking issue. Second, I'm all about originality (as are most Porsche guys, this is just a small group) - and geeze, if going to swap brakes, find other Porsche brakes, don't use the enemy's! Third, since the brakes are way more than adequate for road use, the reason is either (i) they have an ego and want a "better" brakes, or (ii) then "need" better brakes for racing beyond the autox I've done. If it's their ego, I have no sympathy. If it is for racing, then I call BS - because anyone seriously racing would know that different modifications change what class you are in, and changing brakes usually pops one way up in classes - to a modified class where a whole lot more has to be done to the cars to be remotely competitive. Thus, my pet peeve.

Sorry if that colored my inquiry about your pucks!

On Fri, Mar 2, 2018 at 12:39 PM, <coolvt@aol.com> wrote:

If a Ford Focus took the exact same size it might sell for $6. With the hundreds of different disc brakes that have been produced over 50-60 years you would think that there might be a match somewhere. That's all I was suggesting. Not interesting in finding a "better" or more "modern" version. Just a more common, lower priced version.

I’m not sure what you are thinking of when you say “modern”. It is just a metal puck with smooth sides, and a groove on the top edge to match the dust cover. I don’t see anything that can be improved.

It seemed to me that with all of the vehicles using disc brakes over the past 50 years that there has to be something that used a piston with dimensions that matched the Tiger's. Something more modern and easily available.

I recall there was a Volvo that used the same piston but it was stainless steel??? It seems it was the 120, 130, 220 and some 1800 series. This was a quick find so research further. http://www.skandix.de/en/spare-parts/brakes/brake-calipers/piston-brake-caliper/1010679/
