I had my F4b sand blasted some years ago and it came out very shiny. Tried all sorts of things to restore the original cast look. Finally used a wheel cleaner which contained an acid etchant (obviously not for polished wheels!!). That restored the original cast look. Used a hand file on the surface of all raised lettering to bring that back to original. Can't tell you the brand of the wheel cleaner - probably out of business by now anyway. I've been told that if, instead of using sand or beads, you blast the manifold with walnut shells, that the original texture will be preserved. If you've already lost the original finish to bead blasting though restoring it with acid etching might be your only option.

On Thu, Feb 8, 2018 at 11:15 PM, James Lindner via Tigers <tigers@autox.team.net> wrote:

Thanks guys.

Blasting it back to natural seems to be the preferred option. It is on the car and the engine is running great. As we approach the driving season, not sure I want to tear things apart right now. I did the current finish several years back. It actually looks decent, I just thought it came out a bit too shiny. I was hoping for a duller, more natural look.
