<DIV>Since the whole purpose of the electric choke is to warm and thus open
it..., and you are having better result with the 10 second wait I’d be incline
to say the choke is set a bit too rich. A choke in general is a very imprecise
way of dealing with engine and air temperatures. And if you look at the
side of the choke you can see it has quite a range of adjustment. While the
electric choke eliminates the heat riser tube or in some cases water tubing it
in its own way is even more imprecise. Case being an ignition left on on a cold
day without the car running has the potential to open the choke completely when
in fact for cold starting it needs to be near fully closed. Thus the electric
choke is operating independent of the actual air and engine temperature. the
other choke heating methods at least have some correlation to engine/air
temperatures.</DIV>

<DIV>Question? Does your car have an electric fuel pump? If so the better
starting results from the 10 second delay may be from fuel reaching a depleted
carburetor bowl more than any aspect of the choke setting.</DIV>

from cold, with an electric choke Holley.</DIV>

<DIV id=yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1508558349681_6117>Do you attempt to start the car the
instant you switch on the ignition...or do you wait 10 seconds for the choke to
set before cranking it over? I've gotten both scenarios from Holley
discussion groups. All I know is that at +50F, the 10 second rule seems to work
better- at below that temp, nothing works well or consistantly. This is the carb
on my '68 Cougar 302.<BR></DIV></DIV>
