I agree with those suggesting the fan belt removal. That way you can check
the alternator pulley, water pump pulley and lower pulley. Any could be loose
per-say but seem tight with belt tension. Also spin the alternator and water
pump for sounds. If you still here noise at the front I’d suspect timing
chain slap. Or, is it possible the dip stick is bent and hitting a crank
throw???

I took another look this AM. This time I removed the fan shroud to
eliminate that possibility and give me a better view.

Well with the fan shroud off...STILL CLATTERING. Inspected shroud...no
signs of recurring contact.

I got a good look at the fan with engine running and I could NOT see any
contact on the rack. The space between the fan and the radiator was clear of
obstructions.

The noise appears to be coming from the fan hub area. So that leads me
back to the WP. Any other ideas?

I know this may sound stupid, but from what I'm hearing it almost sounds
like there's something caught in the radiator that is rubbing on the
fan. It doesn't come across as a consistent, or constant, noise on
your attachment.

I know that I've had an issue with my fan touching my steering rack every
so often, and it makes a metal-on-metal sound when it does. Do you
have any telltale marks on your fan blades or in the middle of the tube on
your steering rack where it might be rubbing?

Been a while since I posted, but having a problem. I hope the attached
10 sec video goes through.

Getting a metallic clatter from front of the engine.

I can not see anything making contact.

The fan, fan pulley and shroud are secure.

With a stethoscope I checked for internal clatter at the water pump,
timing cover, generator and valve covers. All internals sounded to be
running smoothly.

Clatter gets worse as rpms increase but as I reach cruising speed the
clatter seems to go away, although exhaust might be drowning it out. If I
slow down and accelerate again it gets worse again.
