The last mk1A was B382002706 and it was built right at the end of  December 1966. They had already started Mk2 production at that point (in September? I forget, offhand) and those last 12 Mk1A were probably bodies that had gotten put to the side when they needed to get the Mk2 production going. Then someone realized that those bodies represented sunk cost and finishing them would put cash on the table. Anyway, the ‘2400 range of Mk1A production was early enough in the year that some of them could have been shipped to the US and sold before the end of 1966. Cheers,Theo

Another data point:  According to TBON, my Tiger was assembled in the late summer of '66.  It was first sold in NY in Feb of '67, so it has always been registered as a '67.

My MK1A is registered in VA as 1966/67.  This characterization probably came from the dealer.  It was common back then to give a foreign car the benefit of the doubt when registering, assuming that the same car model would be produced the next year.  In my case this was clearly an error because the MKII, introduced in '67, was not the same car as was produced in '66.

Yes, the Calif. DMV did, or still does, go by the registration date. Have a 1942 Jeep that stated it was 1950.

1st – no idea on the brass tag – one would think it should have something stamped on it.

Yes the vin tag is near the end of the MK 1A Tigers build.

I have been told that back in the day Tigers had registration dates according to year they were 1st register in the states not by the year the Tiger was built.

I don’t know about the tag on the fuel line, but the date the car is advertised as a 1966 does not go with the vin number.  The B382 is  for a Mk 1A is it not? Rivets look OEM also.  My 1966 (registered in Ventura CA in 1966 as it was sold new and the vin on it is B9471136 and I am the second owner having purchased it used in Santa Maria, Ca in Jan 1967 second hand (yeah, have owned my car since then never changed hands and has always been registered).  This car also has the long shifter as well which I think does go with vin number, But somebody smarter than me could check that out. .

Interesting that a small brass tag can generate some curiosity, eh?

Watching the Tiger on BAT?  The owner says it had a brass tag on the fuel line from new and he and his dad have never known what it was.  Anyone know?
