Hi,

I'm restoring my hardtop and I'm trying to figure out how the stainless
trim gets mounted in the quarter window area.  I think I have it positioned
correctly in the photo below but I was wondering if it goes under the
quarter window seal or on top of it.  And how is the "vertical glass seal"
mounted?  If somebody can send me a couple of close up photos of this area
it will help me a lot.

Good Morning Tigers,
 
I'm having an issue finding a ring and pinion for my Mk1A Tiger.
Years ago I had the original 2.88s replaced with a 3.73 posi unit.  The 3.73 gears are just way too steep, so I want to go with a 3.08 (or something close).
 
I got a ring/pinion set from Summit (USA Standard Gear) but it's a 26 spline and I need a 10 spline.
 
I called Summit yesterday and they said the only ring/pinion 10 spline they had was a 4.56!
 
Does anyone have any idea where I might get one a ten spline ring/pinion that will fit?  I don't want to have to go to changing the yoke/driveshaft, etc.

 I have a used trac lock (posi)? with 3.54 gears if you are interested.? Do not buy yukon gears.? I bought case spyder gears, dif bearing kit and case - started major whine less than 500 miles and had to replace with used 2.88 open case.

?I just came up from my garage to ask for some help.Jeff R noticed a missing Trunk lock grommet? ?(missing after extensive trunk restoration). I looked in the shop manual and it is not clear how to install one..?Can anyone take a crack at telling me how it goes on.?Many thanks to you all for being there

Jim,
You unbolt the whole lock, then install the grommet in the empty hole.
Take good note how the lock fits in the hole before you take it out.  For
some reason, I had a difficult time getting it back the way it was.
IIRC, I had to re-bend the bracket somewhat.

Thanks for the help/advice regarding my rear-end/gears issue.
I ended up going to a 26 spline with a new yoke and u-bolts.  I picked up the rear-end this morning after changing from 3.73 to 3.08 gears.  It should make a significant difference.

?Trunk lock grommet redux:?My body shop did me a disservice: there are (4)? #10? that fix thee trunk support bracket in place. These are fine.?BUT: at the top of the 'lock mechanism assy..' there are two screws (facing the chrome key push-button) that they put in that are alien.? ? ? ? ? ? ? They are supposed to float before tightening and they used Metric screws with a shoulder and the head is?labeled 10.9 and? ? ? ? ? ? the nut inside had a shoulder as well. One of the two was jammed and had to be cut off.?What is the correct fastener for the upper two screw/nuts? I studied the parts? book and they call out the lower?four fasteners, but not the upper two (page YV13? OR? page number # 359. .
