But rather than drilling the hole out, suggest that you enlarge the existing hole with a long tapered reamer. Hole should be large enough to snugly fit the body of the rivnut but not the ridges along the side. Get the rivnut started into the hole and then tap it in flush with the body. The ribs will cut into the side of the hole. Then finish the job with the insertion tool. I have done this on a number of stud holes and the result is better than factory. Ultimate plan is to install rivnuts for all of the studs ... someday. Evidently, the car received front end damage at a race in Sonoma earlier this year and they are in the process of making the necessary repairs. Unfortunately, the MkII Tiger headlight rings were destroyed in the accident and they are now in need of another set. Does anyone out there have a pair that they would like to make available to the project? In our phone conversation this morning, I told him that I believed that those rings were only used on late Series V Alpines and all MkII Tigers. Are they any other Rootes cars that used those rings? Thanks in advance for any help that you all can provide!!! Andy Walker Edmond, OK B382001600LRXFE TAC #740 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Your situation sounds like the NY wire (brown / yellow) from the light is on the BAT terminal of the VR. NY wire from light goes to ARM terminal on VR with NY wire from generator Battery wires are N ? brown wires. What I noticed is some lost motion in the clutch master cylinder between the pushrod and the piston. It's definitely there and not in the clevis/clutch pedal, etc. My first thought is that the master piston should return until it bottoms against the dome of the pushrod, which is stopped by the bore washer/circlip. Before going any further I thought I'd confirm whether or not this "play" of 1/8" or so between the pushrod and piston is a fault or not. I'm hoping that it is and correcting it will result in the slave producing a touch more travel. Thanks in advance.Terry -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... The piston is retained by the domed part of the push rod which is in turn held in via the circlip. There should be no gap. If your piston is hanging up then it may be buggered inside the bore. The two allowed an external spring to be connected between them to assist in fully returning the piston to the fully returned position against the piston dome. B382002027 came with the spring and was never any problem. B382000471 did not have the spring and had a screaming throw out bearing when the clutch was engaged on the entire trip in 1983 from Arizona to Virginia. Without determining the cause, I replaced the throw out bearing while doing other engine work. Years later in 1991 on a vacation trip the bearing began screaming again. This time I remembered the spring and found a suitable replacement. To date there has never been another problem in another 20K miles driving. I have official parts listing books for all Tigers. I am also TAC inspector #37. Never have I found a part list that included the spring and only rarely have I found a spring or pop riveted tab installed during a TAC.
