I just got my clock back from Mike, too. He let me know my face was not correct for a MK1a and he had somebody who could make the correct one if I didn’t mind waiting. I didn’t mind waiting, it came back looking and running like new. Highly recommended.

Subject: [Tigers] Smiths Clocks

I had two Smiths clocks that of course didn't work. Searching the web for a repair service I came across an 11 year old thread on the SAOCA forum. It mentioned a Mike Eck that repaired them. Even being such an old thread, I figured I'd contact him. He is a Jaguar collector and still provides the repair service. I received both clocks back and they tick like they should as soon as power is applied. Here is the email I received from him.

Hi Jim,

It sounds like you are into Sunbeams. As for my service, I disassemble the clock, ultrasonically clean it and properly lubricate it. Then I install my proprietary crystal-controlled microprocessor board that influences the original mechanism to keep accurate time. Your clock looks, sounds and is set the way it originally was. It will also work with either battery polarity and start itself when power is applied. If necessary, I can also do minor cosmetic improvements like painting hands or buffing the plastic lens while it is apart. The cost is $100 each, which includes return postage. Package your clocks securely so they don't get damaged in transit, and send them with a check to 418 Whig Lane, Glassboro, NJ 08028.

My Jag collection is the result of buying cars and never selling them. I got the first one over 50 years ago.
