[Tigers] Transmission paint color or bare metal??

We have to remember that the Tiger engine is a Ford Export engine.   If Rootes wanted the transmission painted, Ford would paint it.

 

I’m no expert on this subject, we need owner observations to clarify.

 

I would think transmission painted would be called out somewhere in the order records for the engines.

 

I have some pictures of painted transmissions but no context to explain original or painted by a previous owner.

1                     T15KL engine – trans looks black to me but so does the bellhousing

2                     G13KA engine – trans looks black – engine looks untouched

3                     B19KC engine Fall build – trans has some blue

The only aluminum case transmissions that I’ve seen painted were done during a rebuild. Never seen one painted from the factory. Cast iron was a different story.

I have never known Ford to paint a manual trans case.  They are coated with a phospate dip and that's it.

I have seen a lot of blue Ford trans but its always the DPO.
