[Tigers] Ethanol Laced Gasoline

 Hello Dave
I haven't seen anyone respond regarding an additive which offsets the shortcomings of gas with ethanol. It will be interesting to see if anyone knows of such an animal.

Regarding damage, I can only offer that I've used ethanol laced fuel in all my vehicles without issue for many years including the Tiger and a 1969 BSA. However, it has quickly compromised several small-engine carburetors on chain saws (2T) and weedeaters (4T). A carb rebuild or replacement of the whole carb, which is cheap, makes the implement immediately start and run normally again. This problem does not occur using no-alcohol gas. So I am convinced ethanol fuel has one or more damaging components but the number and amount of susceptible materials in my vehicles seems to be modest.

While there is a station which sells alcohol free fuel in my county, it is too far away to be practical. In addition to the av-gas option I thought I'd mention that there is a local fuel distributor who supplies no alcohol "race gas", by the gallon or drum, to drivers at the local dirt track. It would be a little pricey to fuel a street car this way but it might be considered depending on the volume required.

Good Luck.
Terry

Hello from Nova Scotia! Classic and antique Car owners in Canada have, unfortunately, recently joined the many American enthusiasts who have had to find a way togas up their vintage cars with ethanol-laced gasoline without damaging their fuel systems. Our Federal Government is on an understandable rampageto do everything in its power to help end Climate Change, and this is their latest effort to jump into the fray. (Whether or not this is a valid or questionable strategy is an issue for another time.) I am writing to ask if anyone has come up with an additive, (or some other solution) that can cancel the damage that ethanol does to gasoline engines. I have heard that aviation fuel is ethanol free, but there are very few airports here that will sell aviation fuel to non-aircraft owners. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated by your Canadian car enthusiast Friends. Many thanks for any help you can provide. Dave Munroe, in Nova ScotiaSunbeam Tiger, MGB, and Several vulnerable Motorcycles._______________________________________________
