[Tigers] Trunk Platform Brackets

Jim

Here is a representation of the dimensions off NOT original panels.

I believe I made these panels 40 years ago and should be close to the original dimensions.

The measurements are in MM – they should be close but no guarantee; use as a guide.

Make any adjustments or corrections as needed if using these drawings.

Anyone have original panels to make similar measurements and possibly more accurate measurements?

Ron,

Thanks for your very thorough response. I understand your concerns with contours and dimensions. Your suggestions seem pretty straight forward to me. I have cut new plywood for the platform and have new cover material. Will wait until the new platform is assembled before following your suggestions.

Thanks again.

Jim

Jim

You have asked the near impossible. There is nothing but contours to measure from and they maybe different from your Tiger.

You would truly need the drawing to place these holes as original. 3 holes on the battery side, 2 holes on the other side.

You would need to have at least 2 diagonal dimensions from panel mounting holes for each bracket hole to get close.

Anyone have their original panels out and available for measuring?

Here is the best description as I see this.

On each panel – use tape or some way of removable marker – from the center of the trunk hinge notch to the bottom panel fastener hole below it, mark a line

Battery side – metal bracket starts about 3/8” to front of car

Other side – metal bracket starts about at that line

Assemble both panels onto the car, install the platform – mark a line along the top of the platform on each panel

Remove the platform – mark a line the width of the platform below those 1st lines – that is the top of the bracket position

Remove the panels and place each bracket on the correct panel along that lower line – mark the holes for the brackets

Drill holes – mount brackets

The center of the brackets should be almost in the center of the platform.

There is a small notch in the platform each side for the trunk hinge – the brackets should have about 1” visible – see pictures.

1st picture is battery side – rear edge of bracket @ 16” measured from front of platform

2nd picture other side – rear edge of the bracket @ 15.25” or a little more.

Hope this helps or gives you ideas on how to approach this.

I bought new gas tank cover panels from Rick and have the metal platform brackets ready to install. Does anyone know the dimensions I would need to attach those in the proper position? My original ones were in such bad shape, I can't take measurements.

Thanks,

Jim D
