The Parts List indicates that C2OZ-6565-B is 6.825” and so does the Ford Master Parts Catalog.

 

I have a 289 push rod in front of me, same part #, it is 6.825”.

 

It’s a bit confusing.   Slight differences in length should be OK with the hydraulic lifter system.

I’m not the expert about these details so I don’t know what lengths are acceptable.

The standard pushrod is C2OZ6565B which is 6.804” in length. These are available from Rock Auto, eBay or other common parts dealers, Melling makes them as well (MPR-279).

 

However I NEVER assemble an engine without measuring for true pushrod length. Unless you know everything about the engine internals I would strongly suggest you check it using a variable length pushrod tool

I am in search of new 5/16 pushrods. My SBF engine rebuild book says the length is 6.825. In searching the top brands and major part suppliers I can find 6.850 and 6.804 but none 6.825. (I did see a no name brand in this size but it was back ordered months.)

Can I use either of these lengths? Which one? Any other sources I am missing.
