Wow 490 horses. Just stock 260 with a mild cam, 4bbl and headers here. I was going to rebuild one of the 1850-2, but once I got into them figured why mess around with this old junk and bought a refurbished 80457S from Holley. It's an 1850 with auto choke. It was only $250 compared to $400 new and still has the one year warranty. Sent from my Galaxy

Well I don’t suppose we can expect it to fit later design carbs, although it’s annoying if the original does. I’ve never liked the transfer pipe set up on the 4160. Are you using that just because you don’t have space for a 4150 style without hitting the bulkhead? I ended up notching the triangular piece and folding it in a few mm to fit my pro systems (4150 style) carb. This housing came off a Mk1 Tiger and went on a shelf exposed to the elements where It sat for years - until I bought it at a “yard sale” for 60 bucks, along with other Tiger parts. I believe the paint is original - what’s left of it. The paint appears to be alligatoring and falling off. The pictures were taken with a DSLR camera using natural light from a window to the right There is no “hue” from an incandescent or florescent bulb, or any light bulb.. Perhaps someone can tell if the finish was hammertone.
