Need to have them rechomed (and the rear one has always had a wee bit of a

Hi Rick,
They are identical but you need to be careful about the bumper mounts. They are handed such that if you inadvertently swap them left for right, the bumper ends will droop significantly.

Note that the comments already point out that the rockers are a mess, and
the doors were changed from their correct round corners to square corners.
The owner says that happened when the work was done.  But, that's not a
trivial matter, right?  Some significant portion of another body had to be
cut and put in there.

I have also noted that inside the front grille, the brackets from an Alpine
for the oil cooler are there.  I'm assuming no Tiger had those brackets -
but maybe I'm wrong.  I'm not sure when the oil cooler showed up on the
Alpine.  Maybe it corresponds with the square corner doors.

This must have been a rusty Tiger.? Rockers are frequently replaced... 
also floors, X frame and probably
valence on this one.? It has passed TAC so it was originally a Tiger.
MK1A Tigers have the Alpine oil cooler mounts.
A rust repaired Tiger should be cheaper than an original one.? I 
wouldn't think to buy it unless a Tiger
expert inspected it.

worth pointing out that the 'transferable NY registration' could be a
nightmare.  NY doesn't title classic cars.  depending on where you want to
register this tiger that could make it impossible.  Here in Switzerland
they wouldn't accept it.  Neither the UK.

otherwise i'd be quite tempted in this car myself for a nice daily driver.

Simple with a transferable registration go to a title state they must accept it and will issue new title. Often the no secondary ID is a much bigger problem.? There's another with one square corner and one round in the same color.

nightmare.? NY doesn't title classic cars.? depending on where you want to
register this tiger that could make it impossible.? Here in Switzerland
they wouldn't accept it.? Neither the UK.

Anyone have pictures of these original stock parts?

 

1224657                Stud ? air cleaner

9550040                Nut ? ?? UNC

9067015                Washer, ?? plain              ?? x ?? OD
16-gauge steel

 

Also looking for the length of the stud.

The stud I have is 3.78? long.

 

I originally thought the stud was a modified Ford part but looking at the
stud it looks formed to this length not cut.

There is no Ford part # associated with the air cleaner stud part only the
Rootes # - made me curious.

I don?t know.  But I do know that when I first got the Tiger, with stock air cleaner, but Holley carb, I overtightened the air cleaner nut.  This caused the top to bow, and hit air intake tubes in the carbs.  The car ran, but not well.  It took a while, but I was sure glad when I solved that one.  I don?t know if the stock carb doesn?t have this problem, or if the modified parts prevent this from happening.  But, I thought I?d mention it in case it helps make sure the fit is right.

                The stock stud has a ?? hex pad which is .19? thick for the top cover standoff to rest upon.

I have not check this clearance with the stock part but I will when I get a chance.

This stock stud on the Holley carb should work but I don?t know.

My Mk1a (stock carb.) has a wing nut, that was there when I bought it, as
owner #3, in 1977.  No clearance problem that I've noticed,  even though I
have to put a couple washers under it to tighten things down enough..

Many owners fitted wingnuts ( id guess dealers did too) as it makes them
much more practical to use... But they are definitely not a stock item.

The rear bumper on my Tiger has always had a bit of a twist on one end and
both are starting to show their age (bubbles, etc.), so it seems like the
right time to get the rear straightened & all of it re-chromed.

Does anyone have any recommendations on where I might be able to get that
done, ideally in the North-East USA?

But, for my all out Concours 1957 supercharged Thunderbird I went to Librandi in Harrisburg PA. Their work is unbelievably good.

	It?s been 25 years but my bumpers were plated in Kensington MD at  https://metroplating.com <https://metroplating.com/>; YMMV. I was pleased with results and am again working with them this winter as I restore five antique racing bicycles and having them replate forks, frame stays and some loose parts. So far, so good.

I used Pauls Chrome outside Pittsburg, Pa, for our XKE, they are not cheap, but quality to none, I also gave them a heavily banged up bow stem piece, called cut water, for my old Chris Craft and it came back perfect, I think that piece had hit every dock on the lake more than once! Point is if you have some damaged pieces they have skills to repair them. Clyde

Paul's Chrome is also very good at straightening or correctly shaping 
the stainless trim.? I sent him a badly damaged rear hardtop window trim 
(it was wrapped around a polishing wheel), and it came back polished and 
perfect.? Couldn't ask for better quality.

My only comment is that the prep work is essential and there is no substitute for quality. Pay the extra.

How about the part number 69024 on the early cars up to the later 1A's and MK2's that have an H6 after the 69024. 

Then there's a picture of an original LAT option one that has a completely different number per Norm .? I have pictures hung in an album on CAT forum. Good place to hang some pictures for the Tiger public or invited members.

One Corvair(?) guy wishes he had a rare and expensive set of Corvair 
"HANDS" wheels.
He doesn't know those are the same as our LAT-70s which are remanufactured
by Sunbeam Specialties for a resonable price.

Tigers have 4 X 4-1/4" bolt pattern. Early Corvairs have a 4-1/2" bolt 
pattern. Late Corvairs are 5 bolt. So, it wouldn't be a simple bolt on 
affair.

The comments did mention Cosmics which came on my Tiger. I have the 
mentioned American Racing Libre on my Datsun 510.

Certain steel factory wheels are getting pricey too. A nice set of Mopar 
Cop Car wheels with drilled hubcaps are in the $400 range. I have a set 
of those on my Valiant. SSP wheels and hubcaps from the Fox body Mustang 
police cars are in a similar price range. These fit the Tiger's 4 X 
4-1/4". Look alike wheels came on the more common late 80's T-Bird. I 
have a set of those for the Tiger too. I think Jere Teppen had them on 
his old Sunbeam. So many people had alloys on their Datsun Z cars that 
the factory steel Topy wheels were a disposable afterthought but are now 
pricey. I have three of those (and looking) for my Corvair station wagon.

The VTO wheels that look like Panasports weren't mentioned in the article.
I may regret not buying the 15" Panasports instead of the Rota wheels I did
get for $569.
I'll have to find out how VTO wheels compare to Panasports and much heavier
and lower in strength the Rota wheels are.

I've seen some cars where the owners used clear silicone to keep the center caps in place.?On another subject.I recall, when I had my Tiger, that when I was restoring it I came across the letters CSI molded into the backside of my Minilite style wheels. Someone on the list suggested it meant Carroll Shelby Industries. This made sense because the center caps all had the Shelby logo on them. I contacted the Shelby factory in Las Vegas where they put someone on the phone that confirmed they were a very rare set of wheels from a wheel company Carroll Shelby started and then decided to sell. I believe he said they were sold by Western Auto stores. I don't recall him mentioning who bought the company, but only the wheels produced under Shelby ownership would have had the CSI on them. Once Shelby sold the company the CSI letters were no longer used. If you have a set of Minilite style wheels that you think came from Western Auto back in the 1960's you might clean them up and check the back of the rims to see if the letters CSI are molded into the rim. I don?t know the configuration.  But I?ve seen center caps with tiny set screws along the inside.  Is there enough meat to drill and tap some holes?

here's my January 1960 morris on 4.5" x 10"s shod in the original dunlop
aquajets.  The car's an absolute beast.  Handling is phenomenal.
Absolutely no reason to go to a larger size wheel.

They actually put disk brakes on some of those Minis.  Can you imagine 10"
disks?
