[Tigers] Tires

The R888 is not going to be more prone to puncture than any other lower TW rated tire. The R-comp "not suitable for highway use" disclaimer is mandated, but not all R-comps are the same. e.g. Would I use Hoosier A7's on the street? Nope, they're basically slicks and soft as hell. But, the treaded R-comps I've never shied away from, whether RA1, R888, Victoracer etc etc and have never had a problem, This is on many cars, not just my Tiger.
They will wear much faster, they will not have the same type of siping capability of a true all weather street tire and they will likely bring more impact harshness to the table. But, first time you commit to a turn at a "spirited" rate of speed, you'll appreciate the grip :)
Agree on the increased loads to suspension components. Make sure everything is in good shape, especially bushings and bearings.

I don’t know about other dangers.  For example, are road tires designed to be more puncture resistant because roads are apt to have more sharp objects?  Are road tires designed to stand up to harsher shock if they hit a pot hole?  Is the lifespan of the R888rs so short on the road that a driver may not be cognizant of how far they have degraded with a “normal” road use?
Like I said, I don’t know the answers to these questions.  I’m also of the opinion that companies have to put on warnings simply because their attorneys tell them to.  So here, where the tires are designed for a specific purpose and conditions, and they don’t give any attention to road hazards, they simply may not know the answer.  Thus the warning.

The response suggests that the tires can be used on a normal quality paved road without danger of unprovoked blowout or near zero resistance to puncture.  Correct?

Well, first let me point out that even the WORST tire today is better than the BEST tire when these cars were new.
So, yes in a way they are dangerous for the road for two reason:(1) They are not as good for wet or dusty roads;(2) The put strain on suspension components that the components were not designed for.  So that will accelerate damage.  And the Tigers, with their Ackermann issue are prone to breaking the bar that holds the A arms on.  That’s not a good thing to happen on the road - can definitely result in “serious bodily injury or death.”

One thing I've been curious about is the disclaimer that the Toyo Proxes R888r are for "racetrack and autocross only".Does usage of these tires on normal quality roads present a safety issue?
