I ordered this one from a Ford dealer some years back. This same question was recently ask on the TIGER portion of Facebook and in response several smaller filters one might use were also listed. Since you can rotate the direction the filter points I would think you will have no problem with most sets of headers but there are many designs starting back in the 60s and CAT always made design improvements with each new order the placed. It's angled backwards, the filter is almost touching the engine mount, so it's unlikely there's space for a header tube there. I use Fram PH3600 or Ford FL400 filters, smaller diameter than the FL1/PH8A original size. I seem to recall that either on our old v6 Explorer or maybe it was the V6 Aerostar, there was an oil filter adapter that attached to the block in the same way but was angled less than 90 degrees from the block mounting surface, so that the filter could point straight down. Has anyone ever investigated this part? Stu On Thu, Nov 12, 2020 at 12:02 PM Gary via Tigers wrote: > Would this work? As can be seen it is not used with headers but maybe someone just wants to get away from the overhead filter. This is from a Big Block Ford, I think I got it out of a Ford E350 van of 1980's era. That said it is listed for other Ford engines such as a Boss 429, 460. There is clearance between the crossmember, lower/inner A-arm and the engine mount though I did increase the crossmember clearance with a file (red arrow) and rounded the corner of the front/lower portion of the engine mount (blue arrow). The part number is E5TE-6884-BA. Looks like the going rate is $175 new though there was a used one on Ebay for a ridiculous $499 ?. Glad I got mine at Pick Your Part many years ago. It was somewhere between $3-$5. Looks like it would be $20 today..., if you can find one. My Carter fuel pump quit after 20 years and would like to replace with something compatible. It has a separate Fram cannister filter. The engine is a 302 Ford Motorsports and about 270hp. It has a Holley 1850 carb.
