In the BON Registry it lists a R Collier as the 1st or 2nd owner. Just recently I found a Ray Collier listed in a 1981 CAT Membership Roster. At the time he was living in Fresno, CA. I am pretty sure my Tiger was originally a CA car as the BON also lists a CA license of CATNO33 If anybody recalls Ray Collier or knows how to contact him I would appreciate the feedback. I took over? from Jim Muller, who took over from Dale Cook, and I wish I had archives of those first few years.? Actually I may have some in my office, on 1/4 inch tape cassettes.? Every now and then I consider trying to revive some of the old HP-UX boxes I have to see if I can still read any of those tapes.? Maybe someday. Anyway, in the beginning I was routing everything through the servers at the University of Utah Computer Science Department, where I was employed.? When my fellow sys admins started noticing just how much network traffic there was on a certain box, my boss strongly suggested I make other arrangements.? So I went about getting a network connection at home.? Back then, it was not that easy, or cheap.? And as I recall, the first dedicated Team Net server was an HP box with one of the first 100+ megahertz CPUs, and even with a deal through HP, who worked closely with the U in those days the system set me back about $2,500.? Hardware has improved since then.? And that money didn't all come out of my pocket, I initiated a fund drive among the list members and got a great response.? Back then it was all checks in the mail, and I mailed a thank you postcard to every contributor, or at least most of them, no doubt I missed a few.? And for some time there was an annual fund drive to cover the rather high cost of having sufficient bandwidth from my house. So here it is 29 and just everybody has fast network available to them.?? I dropped the fund drives some years back, though folks do continue to contribute to the cause.? Now a few clicks in Paypal can take care of it, though some still prefer to send checks. Yep, things are different now.? And with the Covid-19 pandemic, a LOT different.? But the Team Net mailing lists are still chugging along, providing those spending more time at home a bit of distraction, entertainment or education as we keep our beloved vehicles rolling along the roads. I plan to keep it going as long as I can, who knows how many years I have left.? April 11th is also my birthday, 66 this year, and I certainly won't live forever.? And I fear that when I die, Team Net will die.? Sigh. But for now, enjoy and stay healthy. mjb. _______________________________________________ tigers at autox.team.net Donate: http://www.team.net/donate.html Archive: http://www.team.net/pipermail/tigers http://autox.team.net/archive Unsubscribe: http://autox.team.net/mailman/options/tigers/mwood24020 at aol.com _______________________________________________ tigers at autox.team.net Donate: http://www.team.net/donate.html Archive: http://www.team.net/pipermail/tigers http://autox.team.net/archive Unsubscribe: http://autox.team.net/mailman/options/tigers/lovemygirls365 at yahoo.com -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I have a Marc one a number 2083. When I got the car it was 10 years old. It had a 5 inch servo on it when I got it, I found a 7 inch servo had it rebuilt and installed it. What I?m asking is, when was the servo surrounding steadying strap Deleted or was it always on cars that had the 7 inch servo? As it turns out, the model # is printed on the top of the face over the ?12?. It reads ?CE 3130/00?. Even though it looks just like yours, the model # is different. A quick Google search on that model # has this clock coming up as a ?positive earth? clock. Consequently, I think I?ve answered my own question. It would appear that the clock has been converted to negative ground at some point and put into my car. It still has its original movement in it and has worked perfectly for years, at least up until about two months ago when it abruptly stopped working. I guess I need to remove it and see if I can find the fault. Thanks, Ron, for the prompt on where to look for the number. The socket and plug handle are made by Britool. There is a current ebay listing of a tool kit which contains the Britool handle and socket: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Sunbeam-Tiger-tool-kit-jack-handle-Clips/303547930277?hash=item46acddd6a5:g:JpEAAOSwzOleoMRS Listing describes them as Britool spark plug handle - A61 "Britool made in England"and Britool # ADH 812 "Made in England" socket. The finish on the ebay parts is incorrect, being a natural finish rather than the correct black finish, but I'm sure they could be refinished to look as OEM. I have heard that someone made a plastic (!!) repro of the tool. Maybe someone knows who did it (CAT, maybe?). While we're on the subject of tool kits, does anyone know if someone makes a good repro of the original vinyl pouch for the kit. I have seen quite a few repros of the original, most are nicer than the original (not hard to do - the original was pretty cheesy), but none was a good match of the original. A local family of mice managed to munch their way through mine so I'm looking for a replacement. There is a current ebay listing of a tool kit which contains the Britool handle and socket: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Sunbeam-Tiger-tool-kit-jack-handle-Clips/303547930277?hash=item46acddd6a5:g:JpEAAOSwzOleoMRS Listing describes them as Britool spark plug handle - A61 "Britool made in England"and Britool # ADH 812 "Made in England" socket.? The finish on the ebay parts is incorrect, being a natural finish rather than the correct black finish, but I'm sure they could be refinished to look as OEM.? I have heard that someone made a plastic (!!) repro of the tool.? Maybe someone knows who did it (CAT, maybe?). While we're on the subject of tool kits, does anyone know if someone makes a good repro of the original vinyl pouch for the kit.? I have seen quite a few repros of the original, most are nicer than the original (not hard to do - the original was pretty cheesy), but none was a good match of the original.? A local family of mice managed to munch their way through mine so I'm looking for a replacement. May have been an old CAT article or sunbeam solutions I can't remember, but I bought a Snap on impact socket that was close to the correct size, had to cut the head off it and weld on a different one to change the socket from i/2 inch drive to 3/8 inch drive after getting the shape correct ?with a little lathe work I left it outdoors for a month, so it would rust up and get some patina, after cleaning up it looked just like original except for the part number stamping, probably could have done that but my set of stamps was the wrong size, when in the tool roll it looks very correct, and not being painted it looks more original to me and matches the patina of the other tools in my kit. I've checked with the current owners of Smiths instruments and the folks at Nisonger.Smiths tells me there is a gap in model numbers and picks up at 3100.Nisonger referenced Smiths 3131/01 for all Tiger models. 2) A 1967 Nisonger catalog and the Tiger parts supplement both indicate a single model of clock for all Tiger models. Nisonger references Smiths 3131/01 and Rootes #1235813 which is not in either the Tiger or Alpine parts catalogs. Rootes catalogs 6601131 and 6601334 both list a Tiger "clock kit" as Rootes #1229322. If there is a 3030 clock in your collection, please pass on a photo and any provenance information, e.g. it came with the car new, etc. Seems like this issue has remained unanswered for the last 50 years.I'd like to put it to rest if possible, but want to get it right. There's enough bad information out there already.
