Just a recap here.

Jim painted the bracket with Duplicolor 1601 Ford Blue engine paint.

This shade of blue is close to the original French Blue – I would say the Ford blue needs a bit more purple to really match the French blue.

 

I also think Plasti-Kote 205 is close – it is a slightly darker blue than the 1601 blue.

 

The biggest problem is paint formulas have changed over the years.   The 1601 Ford blue I have is a newer can but I’m not sure about the Plasti-Kote 205 can – it could be old, like decades old.  

 

I like to make spray out samples before I use any paint; spray can or other – then judge and pick the best match.

 

Thanks for the pictures Jim, they help a great deal with this subject.

 

Anyone have a better match to the original French Blue?
