Not saying no one has ever done it but the Buick/Rover engine is very wide though it did have an angled, front mount distributor.  If Chrysler struggled to fit a 273 V-8 in Rootes cars the Buick engine would have likely been as difficult. Enjoyed reading this, it's like a brief moment back to the 70's.  I wonder if anyone put one of these Buick aluminum V8's in an Alpine or Tiger?  Based on a brief search, the MGB-GT-V8 value has not kept up with the Tiger, at least over the past several years.
