[Tigers] MGB V8 versus Tiger Article

Interesting article, but it contains a few flaws. The MKII transmission is
a Ford toploader, not a Borg-Warner. They quoted the Tiger torque peak as
occurring at 2200 RPM. That's for the MK1 and MK1A 260 engine. The MKII's
289 will have a torque peak at around 3000 RPM. They got the production
numbers wrong for the Tiger. Rated HP for the 289 is 200 HP, not 174 HP.
The reduced number might be the result of trying to convert from SAE to DIN
for comparison purposes but I would expect to see a number of about 180 HP,
not 174. The comment about jiggly ride may have been due to the fact that
their Tiger example was fitted with Konis. Since Konis are adjustable and
we don't know the settings on their car we don't know how firm a ride the
car will have. A better comparison would be with a tiger fitted with stock
shocks.

Their comments on serviceability and parts availability were interesting.
It probably is easier and cheaper to maintain the MGBGT V8 drive train than
a Ford drivetrain in the UK. I would expect the reverse in the US.
