[Tigers] Generator Conversion

I just completed this conversion recently - multi step process if you want to keep the voltage regulator in place even though it will be gutted per Ron Fraziers instructional on one of the tiger websites.
I used the following parts:1. Old CAT alternator bracket - one piece - they sell a kit now. Bill Martin makes a real nice MK II reproduction bracket but pretty pricey. Also: The original MK II bracket can be hard to find - Casting #
C5JZ-10151-B
CAT sometimes lists a bracket, Reisentz Restoration has an original style
bracket and a wire conversion kit.2. Here is the alternator I used - a 100 AMP USA made 1 wire alternator but did not like their pulley and fan but they make a nice black one that is period correct.
3. I also bought a nice Jager faced volt meter gauge from Jim jim at island.net that matches existing guages nicely for around $105
4. Ron Fraziers write up on TE/TA covers the dummy up of the voltage regulator and wiring up
the dummy light pretty well.5. A new fan belt will be needed. I used Car Quest 15480 after many tries.
Hope this helps.

The beauty of a one-wire alternator is that you don't have to worry
about all that.
One wire (large) from the alternator to the battery (at the solenoid on
a Tiger is a good place),
and you are done. Ok, the light won't work any more, hence the
recommendation of a voltmeter.
And a fuseable link or fuse in-line perhaps.
It automatically starts (at just a little over idle speed) and regulates.
If you look at most new hot rods or old competition rally cars or
tractors, it is what everybody uses.
I and most use a GM style case. It hangs on a CAT club bracket easily
with only a small spacer.
