[Tigers] Generator Conversion

I don't know a specific alternator for Tigers. But, I will add that I put
a newer alternator on my Alpine and there is an important wiring feature
that I didn't have right for a very long time. That is, the "L" wire from
the alternator needs to go to the dash light - it might be labelled S on
some alternators. Then the other wire on the dash light needs to go to
keyed 12V - no ground for the light. This does two things. First, and
least important, it allows the light to work correctly. Second, and most
importantly, it lets power hit and initiate the coils in the alternator so
that it's charging immediately (the coils serve as ground for the light
until the charging starts, then the 12V at each end of the light turns it
off. If you don't do it this way, the alternator will work - but it would
need to drive a bit to get it to self initiate the coils. I drove for
years thinking that the alternator just had something wrong with it, and
just lived with it.

With this set up the "Warning Light Simulator" box that the Alpine had is
no longer used. I have no idea if a Tiger has that part.

I'm assuming there would be a similar potential issue for a newer
alternator for a Tiger.
