[Tigers] Tiger rear end

Brent

Michael has a very good list of weak points.

I would add the universal joints; I’m not sure how much torque they can handle.

Next I would say the rear spring perches – if you have not reinforced the rear spring’s front perch you need to do that – Tom Hall has a weld in kit. This is an area every Tiger owner should inspect regularly for cracks; even the stock engine can stress and weaken this area.

The rear ends can handle a LOT of power.. And axle shafts are good for 350+ .. What you should watch out for with big HP increases are:

1. The spring hangers that mount the leaf springs, the extra torque and power place additional stress on an already compromised area.

2. Wheel studs, big hp motors and wider/ sticky tyres to assist can cause them to snap.

3. Panhard rod mount... As per point 1 an already weak area prone to stress vwt more stress and will crack or tear off.

4. If you have weld on traction bars... The mounts that weld on can be torn off

5. The point at which the cruciform meets the rear rails acts as a pivot point, more torque = more stress.

And the other rear end to watch out for with a high HP stroker.... Yours... Use the right foot carefully! ;-)

me wondering how much power can the Tiger rear

end handle? Anybody have any info on this?
