Joel. Have you used an infra red heat temp gun? It will show your real temp of the block, intake, radiator and even the headers /exhaust manifolds which are super hot in comparison. It has been documented over the years that many US temp sending units do not work with our Jagger temp gauges. They are not the same as stock and while they will work, just wont be accurate and will read either high or low. As I am thinking of hitting send it come to me you most likely aren't running stock gauges BUT even so, you should still make sure by using the heat temp gun. It seems you have covered most everything else. Keep us updated please!

Joel,
Lets go through a few basics. A ford Windsor running at 200 is not overheating, its warm. That said we all prefer them running lower than that in general.
It is interesting that it doesnt cool down once on the move. That said a stock cooling system in correct condition should handle normal driving.
A few basic things to check:*Is the thermostat opening fully allowing water to flow correctly?
*are all the hoses and bypass hoses connected? None missing or incorrectly routed?
*is the water flowing freely through heater core?
( side note your heater valves were not built to do 16psi so no surprise they failed)
*Does the car spit water out when it indicates its overheating? What happens if you start it and leave idling in drive? how long before temp rises.. How long till into 200 s?
*What is the coolant level in the header tank and what coolant are you running?
*have you got a filter in the cooling system to see if you have any sedimemt from the block/ system? Is the collant clean and clear?
* do you have the metal spring in the bottom radiator hose to stop the hose compressing and blocking flow?
* have you checked the engine fan is installed the correct direction? ( not back to front)
*have you checked the electric fans are installed in the correct direction?
*have you made sure the fans are wired to spin in correct rotation?
For all above stand infront of car and turn fans on.. Make sure no breeze is coming forward from the grill opening. (dont ask how i know that, but it solved my mystery overheating!)
*What are the timing and mixtures like on the car? Are the plugs indicating you are running lean?*have you checked timing?
*Is the radiator cap seating correctly?
*can you see any coolant leaks around the water pump or thermostat housing?

Overheating defined as greater than 210 at idle orrunning. No expansion tank. Temporarymanual temperature gauge installed until sort things out, if ever – did notfeel could trust the electric sending unit or rebuilt gauge at this point.Things tried:
- New copper core, I believe, not aluminum – totally taken advantage of by this individual here, so no confidence in job performed.
- 16 pound radiator cap – have used the SS 7 pound one as well
- 160 degree thermostat and 180 as well – 160 currently installed
- 14” 6 blade plastic fan
- Fan spacer made to move fan with 1” of radiator fins.
- Custom made fan shroud
- Spacer in upper radiator hose to slow down flow – have put this in and out multiple times, no real difference – currently installed
- 2 – 10” pusher electric fans with relay and in line 30 amp fuse, last thing I did, no help.
Oh and the SS heater control valve lasted 80 miles. Moss Motors valve lasted about a week, thesecond Moss one leaking after about 10 minutes from cold start up. All 3 diaphragms split and blew coolant allover. Received credit and currentlyhave plugged both hoses going in and out of heater valve so I could leave valvein place and look correct till overheating and better parts solution presentsitself. Here how things went from cold start up yesterday – about 72degrees outside.Starts on the first turn of the key.Let idle until electric choke brings to 950 rpm.Off we go, about 4 miles of running at 190.Stop at stop light – turn on electric fans, temp up to 200really quickly.Running at 60 mph for another 10 miles at 200 degreesPull into gas station that is suppose to have ethenal freegas for new weed eater – not there 30 seconds – temp up to 210 with electricfans on.Temp stays at 210 the next 12 miles or so – tried fans onand then off – no difference.Next stop light, about 1.5 minutes, temp goes to 220, fansonStays at 220 until I can get home.Blowing coolant, slight coming into house – not sure for howlong.Fans on, hood up – heat soak up to 230 before coming backdown. My last observations: temp goes up amazingly fast when stopped at idle and does not come downwith electric fans running or driving. At one point, the temp used to drop when driving back to 195/200, not surewhen this stopped. I have had 3 different mechanics look at this with me tothis point, no more recommendations from them unless try an aluminum radiator. I am completely stumped at this point and beyonddisappointment and discouraged. So, team Tiger owners – ideas, recommendations or just putthe car cover on it and leave it for the next person?
