A very long time ago I use a bicycle brake cable for the throttle
cable. The wire wound cable is a bit more flexible and a bit more forgiving
with alignment of the cable. It does take more work to get the ends
attached and working correctly.
1 I would wait for Sunbeam Specialties to have them in stock and buy 2
- carry the spare in the car.
2 get the alignment of the cable between the carb and throttle pedal
arm as best you can - any bind in the cable will cause it to fatigue and
break again in the future.
I found that I needed to raise the cable bracket on the intake manifold up
about .100" to eliminate the bind.
I'm currently using and Edelbrock design bracket that I made under that
bracket - it seems to be just right.
Gene Padgett first brought that Edlbrock bracket to our attention and if
your interested I'll dig my drawing out.

Subject: [Tigers] Throttle Cable Replacement
Listers -
Looking to replace a broken throttle cable. The usual suppliers are out of
stock for "stock" replacements. Anyone have a substitute that worked
recently?
A little Googling revealed a TEAE recommendation (circa 1977) to use a
bicycle brake cable (?).

Summit and Jegs sell generic cables.
Thanks much,
Graham
