[Tigers] Valve stems for LAT wheels.

I had the same problem a few years ago. I found some valve stems at a local tire store that were threaded and tightened down with lock nuts. The worked very well for me. Ran them with no problems for a few years until I sold the car. You could probably find them on the web somewhere.

For further reference, the parts I bought look like the ones shown on Sunbeam Specialties website for Automatic adjusting brakes and my car has manual adjusting brakes. Did the back of the brake backing plate not have the shield or pocket, whatever you want to call it, on it for the auto adjusting brakes?

You can reach him on the Sunbeam Tiger Group on Facebook. His father ran the body shop part of Tiger Auto for years. Doug Jr took over when his Dad retired. Doug also worked for Dale for a few years ? ? (I am not sure on the length of time)? anyway, if you know them, then you are aware that they are great guys who do excellent work and if you don't, I have spent a lot of time and money with Doug Sr. prior to my career ending surgery and thus my income shrinking violently . If you don't find your parts and cant reach Doug, let me know and I will get his phone number for you. I might have them myself but I am having so much back pain I am barely getting my shop and my yard mowed. Matter a fact, my neighbors may argue I am not getting either done.?

I finally got around to ordering two sets, and before I could install them, broke my hand. Today I went out to put them on and found out they won't fit. It's been long enough that Moss will only give a credit, and I don't own an Austin, MG or Triumph, so I'm out of luck on returning them. My backing plate has a "shield" around the wheel cylinder and lever on the back side so only the small, original plates will fit inside it. Does anyone have one set they would be willing to part with?

I was happy to see the date codes on all four were week 30 (late July) 2017, and they're H rated. I thought I'd pass it along for those looking for tires.

> On another note, I took my wheels with old (18 year old Goodyear) tires in to Costco today to have the new ones installed, and after they dismounted the old tires and cut off the valve stems, they found out my LAT 70 wheels were too thick ( a little over 1/4") where the valve stem goes for the valve stems that are commonly available now. I bought a set of bolt on valve stems at O'Reilly's, but they won't seat correctly on the wheel face because of the curve of the wheel at that spot. For those of you still using the LAT wheel, what have you used? Is milling a recess on the back side to reduce the thickness the answer, or is a rubber valve stem for thicker wheels available? Sorry to bring so many problems to the list, but right now my car is up on jackstands in the middle of the shop and not going anywhere.
