[Tigers] Tiger owner looking for brake booster or valve body

Another thing to keep in mind. There are many versions of the same looking servos. I once wrote to Girling. I can share the letter I got back from them; if anyone wants to see it. This was about 25 years ago.

This all happened because I decided to buy the servo kit from Victoria British because it was less expensive than the one Sunbeam Specialites sold at the time. Then I found that the “kit” was useless. But it did come with instructions that listed maybe 100 cars and which servos went to which cars. So I wrote Girling to confirm. According to Girling, the 7” servo on my late Series V Alpine was supposed to be the same one as on the Jaguars. It was a 3:1 ratio servo. The one that VB sold me was 1.9:1. The one SS sold then was 2.3:1.

I don’t know what is correct for the Tiger according to Girling. I would have no reason to think it is any lower of a ratio. But I don’t know for sure. And certainly Girling could have been wrong.

Nevertheless keep this in mind when you search out a replacement servo.

I still have those Girling instructions with the list. I will check what it says. But that won’t be until Monday when I’m back at work.
