Jay, Tom:

For me, the books that changed my life were the “Black Tiger” series by Patrick O’Connor. They were set in the ‘50’s and early ‘60’s in southern California during the sports car racing craze of that time, and the “Black Tiger” was a fictional Italian mid-engined sports car . They were written on the level of young adult readers, but I still go back and read them every now and then.

It was just serendipity that I ended up getting into Sunbeam Tigers and I always wanted an Embassy Black Tiger just because the hero in the books, Woody Hartford, raced a “Black Tiger.” However, my BRG Mk1A does quite nicely.

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas,

Andy Walker

No, not Smart's Tiger. Although not about Sunbeams at all, this book, the Red Car helped create the passion for sports cars for me and now my kids. And it's back in print. So I'm just spreading the word in the hopes of sparking other young folks in our passion:
