Ford moved the machining of the thermostat pocket from the intake manifold to the outlet housing in Feb 1965.

 

If your intake manifold was cast prior to Feb 1965 the thermostat pocket is on the intake manifold; if your intake manifold was cast after Feb 1965 the thermostat pocket is on the outlet housing.

C3OZ-8594-B      Water Outlet Pipe            This is the part prior to Feb 1965.

C3OZ-8592-A is listed in Ford Master Parts catalog

 

I’m not sure what the after Feb 1965 Ford part number is but this is the most common reproduction part.

Is there anything special about the Tiger thermostat housing?  Mine seems to have developed a hole through the metal right on top - spraying all over the place.  And yes, it appear to be coming straight out of the metal, not the hose.
