[Tigers] Question for Mk1A and Mk2 owners

I finally put my top up for the season yesterday, which leads to a
question.  There are, or should I say were, two straps that support the
vinyl soft top boot when the top is up.  Mine apparently perished  long
before I got the Tiger.  I’m looking for ideas to replace them.  I’m not a
slave to originality, so creativity is welcome.  What have YOU done?
