Guess I wouldn’t really have to use 1st gear but what would be the fun in that? Now that I’m in my 70’s I’ve slowed down some but not THAT much.
At 60 mph I’m about 2600 rpm in 5th. With my camshaft and the Webers it works better there.

Bob,
With a 2.95 first gear and 3.73 rearend gears, do you even bother using first gear?

I have the same set-up; T5 and 3.55 posi. First is a little short unless I want to impress someone by pulling the front wheels off the ground!
Happy New Year to all!

Having installed Tom halls t5 conversion in my car I don't know why you would mess with a worn top loader.. I saved mine and rebuilt it for someone down the road who has to have original..I drive my car that has 3:55 LS rear and it a real pleasure to drive. On the highway or back roads. Iwould never go back. 1st gear is a little short, but That's the only down side, for me, after all it's a car, they all have comprises, Clyde
