[Tigers] Tiger Spare Tire and Rim

I believe this can help to sort out fitment. http://www.wheelsupport.com/ford-bolt-patterns/ The 4.25” is listed as 4 X 108 as is the center hole in mm. So, we will have to transpose that into our older fractional/decimal minds. The 14” Ford “SSP” look a like wheel I have in the picture is from a 87-88 T-Bird and is listed as having a 63.4 mm center hole. It obviously fits the Tiger with roughly 1/16” clearance around the circumference. So, it would seem any Fox body 4 X 4.25” wheel should fit the center hub. This wheel also fits my Pinto. I have tried the 90’s Escort and recent Cougar wheels and the center hole is to small for the Pinto, so I’d assume they won’t fit the Tiger either.
The chart does show the 00-10 Focus as having a 63.5 mm center hole. So it does seem large enough to fit being .1 mm larger than the wheel pictured. Don’t use that as a total wheel fit guide (we are talking stamped wheels here) as some center holes have been known to be stepped on alloy wheels. Offset may be an issue. On the chart they only list Low, Medium and High offset. The Fox body wheel in the picture has no more than 1/4” clearance at the upper ball joint and the tie rod end (I have the extended MGB steering arms). Thus a FWD wheel with a High inward offset may have clearance issues. I’d assume the Fox body wheel pictures is closer to Medium offset.

Subject: Re: [Tigers] Tiger Spare Tire and Rim
Has anyone tried an actual Ford Focus wheel? The basic ones that I've changed seem pretty small......2007-2008 year. Seems if the spare bolts up then the Focus wheel should too. Question is will it fit in the Tiger wheel well.

I just test fitted that P155/80D13 Temporary spare. This spare is just a little bigger diameter than the tires I have on the Tiger.
Rear axle fits fine - I see no problems here
Front hub - there is a problem here - a 1/8' or 1/4" spacer would be needed to fit properly here but should work OK with a spacer.
I'm not sure what that Temporary spare came out of - possibly Ford Focus - the label on that spare has a Ford # E2BC-1A479-AA also a Ford logo with 83 F stamped into the wheel so it is definitely Ford.
It's not a spare unless you know it fits and functions like a spare should. Be sure to check if you have an alternate type spare - down the road is no time to find out your SOL.

What we need to take away from all of this is that no matter what you have or find for a spare tire you need to know for sure that is fits and is functional.
Its not a spare if it does not fit or if it does not function well enough to get you down the road when you need it.
I'll have to test fit that P155 temporary spare I have to see if it could work as a spare.
