Bob
Your best bet is to have the original starter rebuilt. Never ever
throw or exchange a Tiger part they are unique to the Tiger.

The biggest problem is that the replacement parts industry became too
generic with their parts descriptions and remanufactured starters are a
combination of parts from all of the 1960's instead of specific to each
year.

Many times by ordering a starter indicated for an automatic transmission
will get you the correct starter.

My 1966 Tiger with a 260 is in need of a new starter. I gave the parts guy
the OEM part number and he ordered a Motorcraft which does not fit. Any idea
where I might find the correct starter?
