Dennis,
I am running an F4B high rise with a 1/2 inch spacer.  Clearance between the nut
and the hood is down to 1/4 inch.  Haven't had any problems with it.  Just
resist the urge to drop the hood onto the latch when you close it - just a
careful push 'til it latches and you'll be all right.
